The Austin A50 Sedan is a small family car that was produced by the British car manufacturer Austin from 1954 to 1959. It was introduced at the 1954 London Motor Show as a successor to the Austin A40 Somerset. The A50 featured an updated version of the A40 Somerset’s 1.2-liter four-cylinder engine, producing 50 horsepower, which was paired with a four-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. Its overall design was more rounded and modern, with a larger rear window and a sloping roofline. The interior of the A50 was updated as well, with a new dashboard and a more spacious cabin. It also offered optional extras such as a heater and a radio. The A50 was available in two body styles – a four-door sedan and a two-door coupe. Both had a maximum speed of around 75 miles per hour and could accelerate from 0-60 mph in around 22 seconds. Overall, the Austin A50 Sedan was a popular family car in its heyday, known for its reliability, affordability, and practicality. Despite being discontinued over 60 years ago, it remains a classic car enthusiast’s favorite and can still be seen on the roads today.
