The 1959 Daihatsu Midget Model DKA is a three-wheeled mini-truck manufactured by the Japanese automaker Daihatsu from 1957 to 1972. The DKA was popularly known as the “Midget” because of its size and compactness. The vehicle had a two-stroke, air-cooled engine with a displacement of 305cc, which could produce a power of 10.5 horses. The engine was mated to a 4-speed manual transmission.
Despite its small size, the DKA was surprisingly practical and versatile, with a load capacity of 200kg (441 lbs). It featured a sturdy steel body with a robust suspension system for stability and smooth ride. The vehicle had a two-seat cabin with a simple dashboard.
The Daihatsu Midget Model DKA was particularly popular in Japan, where it was widely used as a delivery vehicle, a taxi, and a small commercial truck. Its low operating cost, fuel efficiency, and ease of maintenance made it a favorite among small businesses and local authorities. Six decades later, the 1959 Daihatsu Midget Model DKA remains a cult classic among collectors and enthusiasts alike.
