This is a first generation Mazda Familia, Mazda’s approach to the mid-sized semi-luxury market (at the time sedans were luxuries). My late mother, upon moving to Japan in 1984, bought a Mazda Familia, while my father bought a Mazda Bongo.
The first generation Familia was equipped with a 782cc in-line four water cooled OHV engine.
